Compliance with employment standards requires an ongoing committment to staying abreast of changes in the law and making sure that your company policies are being implemented and adhered to.  We assist clients in their compliance efforts by regularly keeping them informed of upcoming changes in our HR Blog and Employer Updates, offering practical solutions to compliance issues, and providing regular training seminars in a variety of formats to suit our client's needs.

We also provide quick opinions and practical advice on questions that clients often have regarding specific employment standards including minimum wages, overtime restrictions, hours of work, premium pay, statutory holidays, severance pay, notice of termination, pregnancy, parental and emergency leave, plant closures, temporary lay-offs and recalls.  We also regularly review contracts and policies for compliance issues. 

While we provide proactive advice to avoid any alleged breaches of employment standards from arising, we also act as advocates on behalf of our clients whenever necessary.  Members of our firm regularly appear before Employment Standards Officers on behalf of our clients on all matters relating to Employment Standards. We also have extensive experience appealing (and defending favourable) decisions of Employment Standards Officers to the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
